Structure & Strategy

At Indigo Consulting, we have created a process which we work through with senior management to clearly define and enable corporate vision.

The first stage is achieved in a workshop setting where the participants define the purpose of their company's existence; identify the values that they share regarding how they work; and set an overriding goal five to ten years out.

The second stage is the formulation of a battle plan. Initially, broad strategic objectives are determined. This is directly followed by an assessment of internal resources and the capabilities required in attaining them.

Next, tactical planning and the assignment of detailed action plans for all members of the senior management team are undertaken<.

An essential element in the actual implementation of any strategy is creating an efficient structure which ensures that responsibility and accountability are appropriately assigned and clearly measurable.

We examine the external environment in order to identify influencing factors, such as considering stakeholder requirements, incorporating key strategic elements, and factoring in the various components of the value chain. Care must be taken to re-integrate the work processes - failure to do so typically results in the duplication of efforts, or important things being left undone.

The final stage is to look at key business processes to see how work is being carried out, and to identify opportunities for efficiency enhancements. We typically start this process with a blank sheet of paper. We also benchmark company structures from industry best practices to see how other respected companies are organized and build this into our overall recommendations.
